It appears that we have some DIY to do this weekend on the hutch that houses Miss Brambles, Patch and Nibbles ...
When John went to give them their bedtime feed yesterday, it seems that Brambles was on the top level, and the two piggies were downstairs - this in itself isn't unusual, ever since we put the ramp down so that they could mingle (to give Brambles a bit more company) it seems to end up with Patch and Nibbles relegated to downstairs (where they then can't get up from as the ramp is too steep) and Brambles takes over the top.
Brambles likes this arrangement as it means she can throw things down the ramp at her smaller siblings (including herself!). It isn't uncommon for us to hear a thump as she lines up with the hole, and throws herself down to the bottom layer, not caring who is beneath her (which we can normally tell from the disgruntled little squeak as several kilo of rabbit lands squarely on a somewhat smaller guinea), or for us to hear a slightly quieter thump that signifies the food bowl going for a trip down the ramp.
Well, the unusual bit of last night was that the ramp was missing, it looks like our dear bunny may have been a little heavy pawed (or maybe heavy backsided) when it came to running back up the ramp, or that she had been a bit vigorous with the food bowl fling as the ramp was laying along the bottom of the lower hutch with Brambles looking a bit forlornly down the hole to her sisters beneath her.
Being soft-hearted, John lifted her down and put her in the bottom with the other girls before feeding them all. But, yes, it looks like not only is there a clean out booked for this weekend, but also a session of John climbing into the hutch to try and fix the damage! Sounds like fun huh?
Musings from the Menagerie came about when I was thinking about all the funny and touching stories that surrounded my life with my multitude of pets, and I decided that I wanted to share some of them with the wider world. Some may make you laugh, others make you cry, some may be helpful to you when dealing with a pet situation of your own - I certainly hope so.
